Underbelly News
Downtown Eastside

Hi All!

Don't forget the Fringe Festival starts today. My good friend Gloria Hole is directing the Carnival Sized Cinnamon Hearts show. Please attend and show your support. Posted below are the details. Also appearing at the Lotus hotel in the Lick Pub as part of the Fringe is the Sinfully Delicious Ms Cookie La Whore. Her show Good Morning Gaytown should be wicked.

Is This The Way To The 1st World?

Vancouver, BC ? September 7, 2005-- Carnival Sized Cinnamon Hearts Puppet Troupe - an evolving metamorphic troupe of puppeteers, crafts people, and musicians - will perform "Is This The Way To the 1st World" at this year's Vancouver International Fringe Festival.

This original play, written by Alev Ersan, and directed by Gloria Hole, is a modern Turkish tale presented in Marionettes Theatre. Told through handcrafted marionettes, it is a hero's journey as one bug ventures, on what should be a simple trip, to the first world to visit his brother but is fraught with numerable obstacles.

Gloria Hole has beautifully adapted this tale to stage play format, and after 6 months of production, a cast of five marionettes has emerged to tell their story with the help of illustration and the magic of a live band featuring Cris Derksen on cello, Corinne Mundell on alto saxophone and Bernie Pleskach. on accordian.

Don't miss this original work running from September 8th ? 18th at the 2005 Vancouver International Fringe Festival. For tickets and venue information check our website.
