KUDO's to the VPD and INSPECTOR LEMCKE

Tonite I attended the NPA annual general meeting. Of course, the Dera/APC protesters were out in full force (well about 30 of them) and as usual they were their irrational best.

This group doesn't even know what it stands for anymore. All they do is agitate, hurl insults and try to incite the police.

The APC just don't get it. All political parties are entitled in a democratic society, the freedom to assemble . The APC demonstrates its stupidity when it attempts to impede the citizens rights.

Observing the protesters, I was disgusted with the names their were calling the police. When they attempted to storm the police, I was actually quite proud of how the police maintained their composure and kept these thugs back.

As one who has been at times critical of the police in the past, I actually have a new found respect for them. Under very difficult conditions they remained professional, calm and collected.

The police were directed by Inspector Warren Lemcke who has been an outstanding civil servant in this city. In 1993, when a member of my community was murdered, then Constable Warren Lemcke went well beyond the call of duty as he and Constable Rick Scharf were responsive to our community's needs. Tonite, I saw again why this man is such a respected Leader.

Thank You to Inspector Lemcke and the members of the VPD on hand to ensure that freedom and not anarchy prevailed in our city.

THE DIMINUTIVE ORR SPEAKS OUT

THE DIMINUTIVE ORR SPEAKS OUT and APPARENTLY as DOES the SENATOR

Oh you know you have come of age when those disagreeing with your opinions resort to name calling and other wetbrain rhetoric.

Case in point, as a writer and commentator, I know I've stepped on toes and consequently I'll come under attack for my viewpoints. Fair enough. I've got a thick skin and can take it. I just wish though that those who find it necessary to spew their potty mouth rambles would grow up and provide intelligent opinions.

Writing coherently, I suspect for the diminutive online ranter, over at Beyond Robson is difficult. While he has allegedly got his drinking under control, perhaps next he might seek out assistance for his seething anger issues. Yes Barry Link, I know you hate the word Issues, but that pipsqueak has plenty of them.

Speaking of growing up, I hear the former Mayor now Senator drove up to Bill Tieleman's b'day party on Friday night in a jazzy new sportscar with a much younger blonde by his side. Ok it could be a silver BMW. Wow, that silver fox really has it going on. Ooh, certainly, I'd say the Senator is revving it up in Ottawa. Be careful though Senator, the purchase could still be considered as part of a settlement package. No silly--the car--not the woman. And that blonde has a real catch in you. A real livewire indeed. Oh Senator, is that the same young blonde that you appeared with at the Pride bash a few weeks back?

Senator Sir, you sure have things going on don't you? C'mon spill, enquiring minds wanna know! In any case, let me congratulate you. If that is what a later-in-life mid life crises brings--I want one--No not the blonde silly-the BMW.

GOON PATROL OUT TONITE

GOON PATROL OUT TONITE

Well the Non Partisan Association (NPA), the Vancouver ruling municipal party should have quite the meeting tonite. Arriving members will be subjected to taunts, rants and raves of the lunatic fringe, the APC.

The APC are a bunch of out-of-province younger adults who hail from white middle-class and privileged homes. They have ridden into the Oldtown district, thinking they know what's best for the long-term residents of Vancouver's poverty stricken Oldtown. Many of APC don't live in Oldtown except perhaps lawyers and prominent members, David Eby and Jason Gratl, who reside in luxury condos in Gastown.

The APC do not resemble at all, the honourable protest movements and proud warriors of Vancouver's past, who gathered in Oldtown to voice their political concern.

Whether it was the Relief Camp workers who camped out in Victory Square to protest their harsh working conditions or the young men who by the thousands gathered on the Powell Street Grounds, drawing attention to rampant unemployment, these protesters were successful because they demonstrated peacefully and through their actions enlisted the support of the public which brought the attention of politicians.

The APC, on the other hand with their potty mouth rhetoric do nothing to endear themselves to the public or politicians. In fact this rogue group brings a bad name to the law abiding lower income citizens of Oldtown.

If the APC and Dera really want to make a difference, they first need to get rid of their leaders David Cunningham and Kim Kerr, who are bringing them down.

Regardless of which area of the city you reside, the social issue of homelessness no doubt is a concern for us all. Unfortunately, this serious matter gets lost amid the juvenile tactics and criminal actions deployed by APC/Dera gang.

As former Vancouver Alderman, George Puil once said to Bruce Eriksen, one of the founders of Dera, if you think you can do better then run.

Bruce ran and won.

I don't believe I'll see the day though when either Mr. Cunningham or Mr. Kerr can run and win. Bullies never usually do.
