POST from PARK COMMISSIONER SPENCER HERBERT

POST from COMMISSIONER HERBERT

SPENCER HERBERT has left a new comment on your post "IT'S STANLEY PARK not JURASSIC PARK":

Hi Jamie,

I don't know what you've been reading, or watching but I've been all over this proposal and the risks it poses to the park, and our budget. I am quite concerned that it could bring the Flintstones into Stanley Park, and not only that but it could cost us an arm and a leg (eaten by the dinosaurs) to do so. I don't think it's the right way to go, but I am willing to see the proposal. If only to hear from the public yet again, about their opposition to this project.

REPLY from JAMIE LEE

Hi Commissioner Herbert,

Love the reference to the Flintstones and Dinosaurs eating us!

I am happy you saw my blog posting on this issue. In the Vancouver Courier interview with you, the article claims you do not have an opinion on the merits of the proposal.

The problem is numerous times, citizens of Vancouver have said we don't want a Zoo in Stanley Park. This includes animatronic Dinosaurs. Why even entertain a proposal?

Vancouverites do not want the Park board to pave Pacific Spirit Park and Stanley Park, with frightening entertainment as they did with Hastings Park.

You should be saying No Animatronic Dinosaur Proposal in Stanley Park would have any Merit.
